Meet the Electric Lightning GT, the luxury electric sports car from the British Lightning Car Company. The Electric Lightning GT is 100% battery powered and is going to be taking on the Lotus Tesla in the high performance eco car stakes. Power delivery from electric motors is constant as opposed to conventional engines which peak in certain rev ranges. In order to cope with the estimated 700BHP+ that the Lightning will have on tap, state of the art electronic traction control will be installed. Top Speed is expected to be in excess of 130 MPH with a 0-60 MPH of 4.0 seconds. The Lightning has an estimated cost per mile of only 2.2p and is exempt from road tax and the London congestion charge. In addition to that it will not have any offset charge and will come into a lower bracket for company car tax. All of this combines to make it a very attractive package and should help keep the accountant happy. The Lightning can be charged overnight from a normal power supply using its onboard charger and if charged using a 3 phase power supply it can reach full charge in 10 minutes. Many garage forecourts already have 3 phase power supplies fitted and more are sure to be arriving soon as the interest in electric cars grows. Orders for the Electric Lightning are already being taken with deposits of £15000 being accepted. |
