 | | Round 1 of the 2008 Formula 1 world championship got underway in Albert Park, Melbourne. Lewis Hamilton started the race in pole and dominated the race from start to finish. Nico Rosberg had an excellent drive in his Williams Toyota and managed to finish in third place having qualified in fourth. David Coulthard had words to say about Massa crashing into him and putting them both out of the race. Neither of the Ferrari cars seemed to have the pace to match McLaren on the day however. Kovalainen had a promising race finishing in fifth although he could have been as high as second had it not been for a safety car period.
